So my old blog template died on me. I didn't actually upload the images to my computer, since I stole the template from some random website. Now, that person's image have been taken down due to an inactive account, so my blog's images don't show either. Oh well, it was kind of time for a new layout anyway, since I haven't actually switched to xml in the previous layout...all those widgets thingies never worked for me. before Now it does, but I find myself missing my old template.. missing its simplistic beauty ^^''
I wasn't actually planning to blog today after a 10.5 hours shift at work. It was alright when it's busy, but it died to a complete stop during the last two hours, which just dragged on eternally =_= it was quite painful. I don't understand how some people can just like to stand around and do nothing...
Digressing, but since I'm waiting for my hair to dry (which is going to take forever) I shall do a short entry =)

From Week 1, 2010 |
My siblings went to Paddington Markets during Saturday when I had work. Since I finished at 1pm, we were to meet up with them afterwards, but they ditched me because it started raining or some lame excuse like that =P dodgy!! Still, tt and I had a good time playing crane machines at capitol.. as usual.
From Week 1, 2010 |
This chocolate was their loot from the markets, but even though they said it cost some insane amount, it really wasn't anything special. Sure, it's nice, but... I think they just got ripped off because it's "organic".
From Week 1, 2010 |
It does look quite nice though...
-The Cupcake Attempt-
I've made cupcakes before. Most memorable was making huge batches of butterfly cupcakes for JL's birthday party at FL's house, with a whole bunch of friends. That was fun, having to mix what, 20 eggs with how many kilos of flour? *shakes head* Can't say this was much better though. It was so time consuming!
From Week 1, 2010 |
We decided on blueberry cupcakes, since I had a stash of blueberries frozen in the freezer. Note to self: DO NOT use frozen blueberries in cupcakes, because it doesn't have enough flavor. That, is the blueberry puree.
From Week 1, 2010 |
Lining the muffin trays. It took me forever to dig the muffin trays out. I keep seeing them whenever I didn't need them, and when I do need them, my mum kicks it somewhere deep inside the store room.
From Week 1, 2010 |
A mixture of blueberry puree with milk and vanilla essence.
From Week 1, 2010 |
With flour, egg, butter+sugar creamed, and the mixture from above. This forms the batter.
From Week 1, 2010 |
My sister's latest craze- food "tools" from bandai. She bought me a soumen slide for my Christmas present, M bought her a sushi making thing that can make small shapes inside the sushi, kind of like the rock candy... and this is her whipped cream gun.
From Week 1, 2010 |
The cupcakes- we spooned batter in first, and then dotted blueberry puree on top before swirling it in with a toothpick.
From Week 1, 2010 |
I love purple.
From Week 1, 2010 |
Icing time. Contains icing mixture, milk, blueberry puree.

Testing the gun.

Final product.
From Week 1, 2010 |
An army of blueberry cupcakes. I was planning to give this to JT at work today because she gave me a Christmas present, but I didn't in the end because it was too hard to transport these things.
Taste: 4/10 It fails, because I don't really like cupcakes to begin with, but if I had to have cupcakes, they should be sweet, and these weren't sweet enough for me. Save the icing, which was overly sweet =_=
Appearance: 8/10 They look cute, and most importantly, they are purple!
We followed a recipe as follows:
1 cup butter and 1.5 cup sugar creamed together, then beat in 2 eggs.
Combined half a cup of blueberry puree (that is just blueberries that died a horrible death in the blender), dash of vanilla and 1/4 cup milk.
Combined 2 cups flour plus a teaspoon baking soda and a bit of salt.
Mixed all three together to form batter and spooned into cups. Create swirl, etc.
Icing.. um... we... didn't really have a recipe to follow and just did it according to how our mood swing, haha. Maybe that's why it didn't turn out that great. Next time I shall buy cream cheese and follow the proper recipe...
Family outing tomorrow! Let's hope it goes well... though there's been some sort of tension lately with my family, everyone's been kind of strung up and get into a bad mood easily. Shall be careful and keep happy =) Resolution 1 for 2010!

Hey, we still have to go to Paddington markets, stop working saturdays! =P There's a nice chocolate stall there actually, mainly selling chocolates with various fruit peels in them.
haha, why don't i just quit huh? =P but ewww... fruit peels ; ; *dislike*
The text on your site is now really hard to read!!
Also you're meant to have quit for like months now... :P
How so?? it's ariel! And it's white against black, how much more contrast do you want??
It's hard to read because of
#main-wrapper { opacity: 0.9 }
in your css (from the template).
Opacity is always inherited, such that children objects can never become 100% opaque... This causes issues with text rendering especially because the way it fades text is by blurring the pixels == less contrast, regardless of white on black!
Not sure how much control you have over your template, but it is possible to fix but you have to use javascript..
Gah ok so I can't edit my comment, but actually we wouldn't have to use javascript...
I can explain it on Wednesday if you want instead of clogging these comments (and making it look like you have waaay too many ice creams..)
It was worse before, the opacity was set to 0.8, but because I post photos up, I didn't want my photos to be so translucent, so I set it to 0.9... I can make the font larger for you if you like =P
Ok here we go, a test to show you what I mean:
http://dev.withoutboundary.com.au/opacity-test/
div id="win"
is the key? =P But yea, I see the difference, but... this is still readable right? ><
Lol, didn't think you'd look at the source.. :P
Yes, #win is the one that works properly with the transparent black background. A huge difference, right?
"This" is (the comments) but not when they are on the main site in the template. Blaahhh unreadability!
Can you make it so that not only the font is more readable, but the photos have opacity of 100%? ._.
Well, by virtue of the implementation, anything (including links, text, images) in the content div (#win :P) will start at opacity 100%. So yes. :P
